the brief
Develop an eye-catching and friendly awareness campaign to promote good hand hygiene across the hospital, using well-placed hygiene stations, information points, and clear graphic messaging.
what studio mode did
We met with the Infection Prevention team to understand their goals and develop the project brief. From this, we designed a series of eye-catching, colourful and friendly hand hygiene stations, information points, and supporting graphic materials. The scheme tracked the patient and visitor journey from hospital entrance to bedside. Key installations were located at main entrances, with hand hygiene stations positioned at every ward threshold—accompanied by interchangeable poster boards allowing staff to communicate each ward’s current status in real time.
Once the branding and scope were agreed, we produced a detailed installation schedule tailored to each individual location, and project managed the process through print production, delivery, and on-site installation with a local contractor.
The Infection Prevention team were delighted with the final outcome, particularly the attention to detail in the placement and accessibility of the hygiene stations. Post-installation audits showed a significant increase in both hand hygiene awareness and gel usage across the Trust.
“We are delighted with our new Hand Hygiene Campaign. It’s created an eye catching brand which has improved hand hygiene practice throughout the hospital.”
any tricky bits?
Plenty. Making something stand out in a busy, often cluttered hospital environment is never straightforward. We worked closely with the Infection Prevention team and liaised with a range of stakeholders—health and safety, fire, comms, estates—to ensure our designs were distinctive, effective, and compliant. A thoughtful approach, open communication and a creative mindset enabled us to develop a unique and memorable scheme that stood out without adding visual noise.
